Arsenal Singapore Newsletter 7 March 2015

extra

Hello everyone!

I’ve got quite a few things to inform you so I’ll get straight to it.

First up, the great news is that Molly Roffey’s (Bras Basah) will be open for our FA Cup Quarterfinal against Man United!

That’s right, make sure you join us for what could be another classic cup tie in the early hours of Tuesday 10 March our time, with the kick off at 3.45am. Almost 9,000 Gooners will be rocking up to Manchester for the game despite the travel challenges so what is a trip to Bras Basah for all of us?

Given that it’s an early kickoff, we will not be taking any sign-ups for BAGBAR this weekend. But fret not, you still have time to sign up as they will resume the next two Saturdays prior to our matches against West Ham and Newcastle.

As most of you would have known by now, Arsenal Singapore has adopted Children’s Aid Society as our beneficiary for the season. At our year end party in December, we auctioned off several Arsenal memorabilia and thanks to the generosity of our Singapore Gooners, we raised $5,000 for them which was matched dollar for dollar by matching grants from the ministry.

When we went down to present our donations, we also initiated conversations with them on what else we can do to as a club to help them. We did not want the partnership to be just about a one-off donation.

Children’s Aid Society runs Melrose Home which is mainly made up of children below the age of 12. They have since asked us whether we could help conduct football sessions about twice a month for their group of boys aged between 8 and 12.

Arsenal Singapore will need at least three volunteers per session and this is where you come in. We’ll start off with monthly sessions, with the first one tentative set for Sunday 22 March from 3 to 5pm. We will then explore expanding them to twice a month.

If you have flair with working with kids and want to contribute, please drop Shai an email at shai@arsenalsingapore.com.  And if you have kids of that age range, you are more than welcome to have them join in those sessions too.

We hope to hear from you soon!

In the meantime, let’s get behind the boys to make sure we have another trip to Wembley come April!
