Arsenal Singapore Newsletter 16th December 2015

Hello Singapore Gooners,

Victories over Sunderland, Olympiacos and Aston Villa capped a glorious 7 days for Gooners worldwide. Petr Cech’s new record of clean sheets + Giroud’s record of 3rd fastest Arsenal player to reach 50 League goals + Ozil’s 13th assist = Happy Faces everywhere!

By now, you oughta know we’re meeting our “sister” club, Barca in Feb/Mar 2016. If we have Coquelin and our other key players in action, I fancy our chances. Really! Plus we’re resting comfortably near the summit of the EPL table currently. If we can maintain our current form till end Jan, we may stand a good chance. Move aside Leicester!

The biggest action over the weekend was not at Villa Park but at Bras Basah! About 100 Singapore Gooners gathered for our annual year end party. Plenty of action there, I tell you. We had our very popular Quiz segment, Beer Drinking competition and 3 new events: “Halal” drinking competition, Chapteh competition and the “Stripping” Arsenal T-shirt relay. Congrats to our Champions: Leon, Ian, Bas Tian and Team Giroud. Over 40 Gooners also received some fancy Arsenal merchandise in our lucky draw which ended the festivities.

One of the highlights that evening was the annual Arsenal Auction. We had 3 items: 2 signed jerseys by Santi Cazorla and 1 signed jersey by the Arsenal team players. We raised $1,718 in total and Arsenal Singapore will top up to make it an even $3,000. Thanks once again to our donors: Edmund, Tony and Jin Yan. The government will match our contribution dollar-for-dollar, so our recipient, Children’s Aid Society will receive a cool $6,000 in total this year. In addition, Arsenal Singapore will sponsor a set of sports apparel each for all 35 kids (t-shirt, shorts and boots/sports shoes) at Melrose Home.

Melrose Home provides a supportive environment for children between the ages of 3 to 18 years old, a “home away from home” for children and teenagers who need care and protection in a residential setting. If you are keen to volunteer once a month through Arsenal Singapore, please email to Shai at

Finally, the next 3 Arsenal matches won’t be telecast at Molly Roffey’s because thanks to our friends in UK, the broadcasters there have chosen to telecast these matches at unfriendly hours for us. We have Citeh (Tue Dec 22 @ 4am), Southampton (Sun Dec 27 @ 3.45am) and Bournemouth (Tue 29 Dec @ 1.30am). That’s all your pre-Christmas and Boxing Day action right there. Let’s aim for all 9 points, shall we?

I’ll catch up with everyone again in 2 weeks.

Arsenal Singapore Year End Party 2015

Another year has passed and we certainly are going out with a bang. Great turnout for the party, fun games and very charitable Gooners who bid generously in the auction for the Children Aid Society. And of course, Arsenal made it even merrier with a good win against Aston Villa.

Arsenal Singapore Newsletter 13th December 2015

Good afternoon Singapore Gooners,

Another Lunchtime Edition!

“If you do not believe you can do it, then you have no chance at all” ~ Le Professor

WHAT A PERFORMANCE by the mighty Arsenal! We believed in ourselves and look what happened. What a way to score your first hat-trick for the club, Giroud! So highly impressive were Oli G, Campbell and Koscielny earlier this morning that The Arsenal has qualified for the knockout stages of Europe’s elite footy competition for the 16th Year in a Row! Mission Accomplished, against all odds.

We all witnessed how all 14 players worked effectively as a unit to get the job done. Everyone worked their socks off and we can smile again. Does your lunch taste better now? Go on, just order a dessert while you’re at it. The sweet taste of Victory!

And last Saturday, we kicked off December with a big bang 3-1 victory. So that makes it 5 goals in 2 games for the HFB (own goal counts too, right?.. hehe). 15 games down and another 23 more to go and Gooners everywhere are wishing, hoping and praying we can last the distance this time. We continue the warpath with Aston Villa this Sunday. On paper this may look like a mismatch but it’s up to us to secure the victory. Plus, former Gooner Remi Garde might do a Tim Sherwood (Remi is a Gooner, Remi is a Gooner!). Early kick-off is on Sunday 13 Dec, 9.30pm.

Arsenal Singapore 2015 Year End Party

This has to be the main highlight for Singapore Gooners this weekend. Everything’s all set for the Biggest Year End Party on Sunday. We are ready to rock the house down with a nice buffet spread, exciting games and fabulous prizes. We will play our favourite games, some new ones and some with an interesting twist! We have so many great prizes that almost everyone can walk away with something (if your stars, moon and sun are all aligned). Lots to play and lots to win!

Lastly, we will also have our annual tradition of the Arsenal Auction. Over the past years, you have always been generous to donate for a worthy cause. Once again, all proceeds from this year’s auction will go straight to Children’s Aid Society which manages the Melrose Home, our adopted charity for 2015. Melrose Home provides a supportive environment for children between the ages of 3 to 18 years old, a “home away from home” for children and teenagers who need care and protection in a residential setting. So please donate generously and bring your chequebook or cash.

Registration starts from 5pm onwards. Party commences at 6pm sharp. Buffet starts at 6.15pm. The Exco is all set to party with you.

Ho! Ho! Ho! COYG!!!

Arsenal Singapore Newsletter 3rd December 2015

Dear Singapore Gooners,

Wasn’t it a sucky November for The Arsenal? To summarize: Strike 1 – Coquelin. Strike 2 – Alexis. Then Strike 3 – Cazorla.

Points: 2

Injuries: 6

The football gods aren’t smiling on us for sure. Why oh why?

Another stuttering performance by the team against Norwich. We gotta find our mojo back, pronto! With Ox and Rambo back and soon Theo plus Jack, perhaps we can form a new midfield again. Don’t forget our Costa Rican star Campbell is churning out noticeable performances lately too. All is not lost!

Arsenal Singapore Year End Party

We are all set for the BIGGEST YEAR END PARTY only for you, Singapore Gooners! (Not referring to Adam Lambert… ahem). Our annual rockin’ party is set for Sunday 13th Dec @6pm at Molly Bras Basah. Lots to eat, lots to drink, lots to play, lots of FANTASTIC prizes to win! And our annual tradition of the Arsenal Auction will definitely continue this year. Bring your cheque books or cold hard cash! NETS/VISA/MASTERCARD/AMEX not accepted. Don’t even try it.. LOL
