Hello Singapore Gooners,
WHAT A PERFECT WEEK !
Victories over Sunderland, Olympiacos and Aston Villa capped a glorious 7 days for Gooners worldwide. Petr Cech’s new record of clean sheets + Giroud’s record of 3rd fastest Arsenal player to reach 50 League goals + Ozil’s 13th assist = Happy Faces everywhere!
By now, you oughta know we’re meeting our “sister” club, Barca in Feb/Mar 2016. If we have Coquelin and our other key players in action, I fancy our chances. Really! Plus we’re resting comfortably near the summit of the EPL table currently. If we can maintain our current form till end Jan, we may stand a good chance. Move aside Leicester!
The biggest action over the weekend was not at Villa Park but at Bras Basah! About 100 Singapore Gooners gathered for our annual year end party. Plenty of action there, I tell you. We had our very popular Quiz segment, Beer Drinking competition and 3 new events: “Halal” drinking competition, Chapteh competition and the “Stripping” Arsenal T-shirt relay. Congrats to our Champions: Leon, Ian, Bas Tian and Team Giroud. Over 40 Gooners also received some fancy Arsenal merchandise in our lucky draw which ended the festivities.
One of the highlights that evening was the annual Arsenal Auction. We had 3 items: 2 signed jerseys by Santi Cazorla and 1 signed jersey by the Arsenal team players. We raised $1,718 in total and Arsenal Singapore will top up to make it an even $3,000. Thanks once again to our donors: Edmund, Tony and Jin Yan. The government will match our contribution dollar-for-dollar, so our recipient, Children’s Aid Society will receive a cool $6,000 in total this year. In addition, Arsenal Singapore will sponsor a set of sports apparel each for all 35 kids (t-shirt, shorts and boots/sports shoes) at Melrose Home.
Melrose Home provides a supportive environment for children between the ages of 3 to 18 years old, a “home away from home” for children and teenagers who need care and protection in a residential setting. If you are keen to volunteer once a month through Arsenal Singapore, please email to Shai at Shai@arsenalsingapore.com
Finally, the next 3 Arsenal matches won’t be telecast at Molly Roffey’s because thanks to our friends in UK, the broadcasters there have chosen to telecast these matches at unfriendly hours for us. We have Citeh (Tue Dec 22 @ 4am), Southampton (Sun Dec 27 @ 3.45am) and Bournemouth (Tue 29 Dec @ 1.30am). That’s all your pre-Christmas and Boxing Day action right there. Let’s aim for all 9 points, shall we?
I’ll catch up with everyone again in 2 weeks.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL! Ho Ho Ho!
London is Red!
