Arsenal Singapore Newsletter 25th May 2016

extra

Good evening Singapore Gooners,

I write this to you just after returning from my trip to London.

Ten days ago, we celebrated St.Totteringham’s Day!!! And what a beautiful Sunday it was..

WAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
WAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

OMG! Seriously it was so funny that you couldn’t make it up. The Arsenal’s stylish 4-0 overture hit the final nail in the Villans’ coffin. And thanks to Rafa’s band of merry men, we celebrated our 21st consecutive season of North London bragging rights!

#NorthLondonIsRed

To recap, 2006 was “Lasagne-gate”. In 2016, it was “The Fat Spanish Waiter-gate”!!

Two key highlights in the past 10 days.
Song of The Year: It’s Happened Again! It’s Happened Again… (u know the rest)
Quote of The Year: Only Sp*rs could have come in 3rd a two-horse race to the title.

At The Emirates Stadium on 15th May, there were some Singapore Gooners present there plus myself and 3 past presidents of Arsenal SG who channeled all their energy and witnessed The Arsenal clinching 2nd spot for the first time since 2005. We’ll see if we can go one up next year and have ALL 5 presidents there and maybe clinch the Premiership? This has never been done before! *fingers & toes crossed* LOL

We also bade a tearful goodbye to Rosicky and Arteta that Sunday. As far as I’m concerned Flamini is staying (we need to keep the Ozil-Flamster bromance going, am I right? LOL). Go search those farewell videos on YouTube on Rozza and Captain Marvel.

Children’s Aid Society
Arsenal Singapore has partnered our adopted charity, Children’s Aid Society (CAS), since 2014. A group of volunteers have devoted their time and energy with these kids for a footy kickabout and simple exercises. However, due to time constraints and other reasons, we will stop this monthly activity with CAS. We will still continue to work with CAS and raise funds for them for at least until end of Dec 2016.

On Sunday May 8th 2016, a few volunteers and Exco members visited the kids. We organized a short afternoon event for the kids with a magic show, balloon sculpting and yummy food catered for the kids. We also took the opportunity to submit a S$3,000 donation to CAS.

I wish to thank ALL our volunteers who participated in this program and our Community Events leader, Shai for his tireless effort and energy in running this program. Great job, everyone!

Arsenal Tour – Sydney 2017
This is a shout out to our members who are planning for next year. I understand it is still very early days yet but tickets will go on sale in July 2016 – Yes, this year!

The Arsenal will play 2 matches in Sydney – 13th & 15th July 2017.

More info will be released to you in the coming weeks…. Watch this space.

New Arsenal Jersey for 2016/17
So what do you think of our new home jersey? Pretty snazzy, eh? Some of you have asked if the Club is offering a promotion/discount on the sale of the jersey.

The answer is YES!

We are currently in the discussion stage and will announce once the deal is done. Keep your pants on and watch this space!

With the Euro 2016 tourney starting in 2 weeks, I reckon we will see at least 3 new players signed this summer. In fact just a few minutes ago, Arsenal officially announced Granit Xhaka as our 1st new signing!!! Let’s see if we can get another signing before the start of the tournament.

Wishlist: Ibrahimovic? Kante? Morata? Mahrez? Benatia? Or someone unknown to us all?

I’ll continue updating you with more info in the coming weeks for promotions/events exclusively for our Arsenal Singapore members. Next season, Arsenal Singapore will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary of being an Official Arsenal Supporters’ Club (since 2007).

Trust me, membership has its privileges! Why have you not renewed yours yet?
