Arsenal Singapore Newsletter, 15 August 2017

My fellow Singapore Gooners,

What a start to our season! 4-3 to the Arsenal was truly a spectacle. Thrills, spills (ahem) and a dramatic winner from Oli G! Frankly, I would rather win 1-0 but obviously we are The Arsenal and why do it the easy when you can do it the Arsenal way! LOL

And now for your regular dose of weekly updates.

1. New President & Exco members of Arsenal SG

My 2-year term as Prez will end this Saturday as I will step down at our AGM. It’s been a fulfilling time to ensure this club has continued what we have done since 2004. Our main goal is to ensure your match experience and engagement with our Club gets better each and every time.

We have organise numerous activities in the past 2 years but the two BIGGEST that come to mind would be our 10th Anniversary Party with Lauren and 200 Gooners in March 2017 and our move to Five Square last November. Bigger, better, best!

I have done my best for the club and as long as our members are happy with what we achieved together, that’s fine by me. I will continue to serve in the committee but in a different role. Please give your fullest support to the next President. Who is your next Prez? Come down to Five Square this Sat from 8pm onwards to find out!

Also, a few long-serving Exco members are stepping down this year – Zac, Eric (10 yrs), Shai (9 yrs) and Steve (5 yrs). I’m sure you’ve seen them around and know who they are. They have always given their all for the club. We thank them for their dedication and passion!

We have a new Exco team line-up to continue “making Arsenal SG great again” after the AGM so the next Prez will introduce your new team line-up moving forward. See you guys & gals around!

2. AGM 2017
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held this Saturday 19th, 8pm to 9.30pm at FIVE Square. Buffet dinner has been catered for the first 50 members.

All members are welcome to learn about our club’s achievements in the past year and our plans for the new season ahead. Members are encouraged to stay on for Stoke v Arsenal game, 12.30am that same night.

3. Match Tickets
If you’re heading to London in October, we have another home match coming up. Send your ticket application to Umarani at

Arsenal v Brighton & Hove Albion (Category C tix)
Match Date – 1 Oct 2017
Ticket Deadline – 20 Aug 2017

4. Membership renewals and new sign-ups

Renewals and new sign-ups will continue this Saturday, 10pm to 11.30pm. Please arrive punctually for this. Members who have yet to collect your membership cards/gifts from last season, we have everything ready for you.

The grace period for membership renewal ends 31st Aug. So members can renew either on 19th or 27th August. This year’s renewal gift is the amazing yellow and blue drawstring bag!

And so finally this weekend, we play away to the dreaded neanderthals of Stoke on a probably semi-cold, wet Saturday night! Nobody fancies playing a game there but how we do it, we don’t know, how we do it, we don’t care. All we know is we want to grab those 3 points!

Come down to Five Square for your dinner and catch the match with your fellow Gooners. Sing loud and proud! COYG!!

Stoke City v The Arsenal, Sunday 20th August, 12.30am kick-off.

Victory Through Harmony,
Dhanesh (DJ)
