Hello Fellow Singapore Gooners,

Arsenal got back to winning ways on Saturday night with a hard-fought 3-1 win over the thugs from Burnley, whose Dyche-bag of a manager had the temerity to accuse our players of diving when his team was planting their elbows and knees into our players at every opportunity. Our boys are made of sterner stuff these days and gave as good as they received, with Kola-bear and Sokratis in particular relishing the physical battles. A brace from Aubameyang set Arsenal on the way to 3 points, and although the thugs pulled one back, Obi-wan Iwobi popped up with our 3rd goal to seal the win and send the team into the busy Christmas period in high spirits.

Hope you have had a great Christmas with your loved ones and after all the turkeys and hams over the past few days, are ready to feast on the slew of Arsenal matches over the next 10 days. They start off at Brighton tomorrow morning at 1:15am Singapore time, before travelling to Liverpool for another midnight match (1:30am) on Sunday morning. As announced last week, Arsenal Singapore’s new home is at Five Oriental and the first match to be screened “live” will be the match at Liverpool this weekend.

Arsenal Singapore spread some early Christmas cheer to our adopted charity, Children’s Aid Society, as our Vice President (the handsome Dhanesh Jagwani) presented a cheque for SGD 4,000 to them on 20 December. The money was raised at our annual dinner and charity auction earlier this month, and we would like to again thank our generous members who bid for the signed Arsenal memorabilia during the auction.

That’s it for this week! Do come down to our new home at Five Oriental this Saturday night to cheer on The Arsenal as they take on high-flying Liverpool at Anfield. They may be sitting atop the league at the moment, but if our boys give their all, we are capable of getting a positive result to keep alive our chase for a top four position. COYG!!!

Best wishes,
Alvin
