1. Closure of Modesto’s – Elizabeth Hotel
Ashok, the owner of Modesto’s, informed me yesterday that he has closed down the restaurant at Eliz. As you know this was our First and Best home for Arsenal Singapore. Home is where the heart is and our hearts were there every weekend from 2004 to 2013.

Here is the message from Ashok.
“Thank you for support and patronage for all these years. We have taken the difficult decision to close down our branch at the Elizabeth Hotel with immediate effect, and consequently had to retrench many of our staff.
Instead of the discount that we are always extending to our friends and regulars, we are going to put a part of your purchases into a fund to help our retrenched staff, especially for the foreign workers who face very poor job prospects either here or when they go home.
A full 40% of your net spend will be set aside to a fund to help our ex-staff who are between jobs.
NB – if you have enjoyed our food and service through the years, we will admit that we may not be around much longer. So please enjoy our offerings at least one more time in May for a good cause. Thank you very much”.

2. Children’s Aid Society
As our members know, our adopted charity is Children’s Aid Society. During this challenging COVID-19 pandemic, they are facing a difficult financial year with donations on a significant decline. We hope to appeal to the generosity of our Arsenal Singapore community to donate if you can. The donations would greatly help them to tide through this trying period and signify support for their residents and families.
