Greetings Gooners!!
It was horrendous last week, with two losses.
The first loss was against the Wolves. We started well with Nico scoring a brilliant curler and then Arsenal self-destructed to lose 2-1. Luiz and Leno were sent off for red-card offences but the most contentious one was against Luiz. I agree that his action was a technical offence and deserving. As for Leno, a professional goalkeeper no less, the red-card was warranted for that schoolboy error. At this stage of the competition, the lack of focus truly cost Arsenal the 3 points.
The next loss to Villa was painful for me. We conceded a goal very early, thanks to a mispassed from Soares but the way Arsenal played from thereon just did not work, with aimless crosses from the flanks, albeit some goal-scoring moments through attacks from the middle, which Martinez had no problems dealing with. Arsenal had lost both matches against Villa and Arsenal did not score against Martinez since he left the club.
Arsenal now lies in the 11th position, after 23 matches with 10 losses and 4 draws. 15 more matches to play and to move upwards, we can only hope for the other teams to languish downwards. The season at the moment for Arsenal seems to display the repeat of the 1994-95 era. Let’s support Arsenal at this time and pray, for the team to salvage what’s left till the end of 2020-2021.
Arsenal hosts Leeds United this coming Monday, 15 February 2021 at 12.30 am. It will be a tight game against Marcelo’s side. COYG!!
