Arsenal Singapore Newsletter, 25 July 2021

Hei Gooners,

A very good Sunday to all of you! This is the 50th newsletter thus far. Have you been reading them? I hope so… I am not a writer but I am doing this for the love of Arsenal and Arsenal Singapore. Please pardon my shortcomings #hehehe.

Did anyone catch the London derby yesterday, between Arsenal and Millwall? This is one of those rare derbies between the two. The last time they played was in 1995 and Arsenal lost the match. This year, Arsenal beat them convincingly to a score of 4-1. This was just an unrecorded friendly game that has no bearing whatsoever. But the lads played very well, albeit against a very weak side. In my experience, when a team play against a weak side and thrashed them, this builds confidence for the players for future games #justsaying

Three more weeks before the start of the 2021/2022 EPL season. So far, we’ve signed Sambi 23 and Tavares 20. Smith Rowe is now our new coveted number 10. But is the team completed? I suspect that Arteta might buy 1-2 more players to strengthen the team. It is definitely exciting for Arsenal as well as the fans worldwide to look forward to, as the team rebuilds for the future. Arsenal have two more friendlies, against Chelsea and Spurs, in preparation for the upcoming season.

At the moment, the English FA has directed for a strict regime in order for fans to watch the game, with stringent covid vaccination requirement and with limited seats at the Emirates. There is no update on the requirement for travelling fans. And for Singapore Gooners, without a doubt, we can’t travel to the UK for the games with this Covid environment.

We are back in phase 2 and the situation has worsened with so many reported daily infections. But let’s look forward to celebrate the NDP on 21 August 2021 #wink
