Hello Singapore Gooners,

2 league wins and 1 FA Cup win in 8 days for us. Somehow this morning against Norwich, there were considerable improvements all over the pitch as the match progressed. Devoid of fans, the Emirates stadium was still buzzing with banners! Maybe it’s just good to see the red & white in London again! #OneTeamInLondon

Moving forward, we have a FA Cup semi-final clash against Man Citeh at Wembley on Sun 19 July, 245am! I’m sure everyone will be awake for this. Looking ahead, we play Wolves this Sunday and Leicester on Wednesday (3.15am).

Membership renewal & AGM

During our recent Exco meeting, we discussed to hold off membership renewals/new sign-ups until next month or so. (FYI, your membership renewal gift is ready and it’s a BEAUTY!)

That will give us time for the govt to ease bars/restaurant crowding restrictions hopefully. That will also give us time to choose our new home of Arsenal Singapore. We have shortlisted some names but I’ll have to check if they’re still operating after this pandemic. Modestos’ Elizabeth was definitely on our shortlist but alas, they have closed for good.

We will also be holding our next AGM in the next month or so. If we can’t do a physical meeting due to capacity restrictions, we will hold a virtual meeting as allowed by the Registrar of Societies.

Meanwhile, continue to wear your red & white and enjoy the remaining 4 weeks of the season. Don’t forget, Wolves v The Arsenal, Sunday 5th July, 12.30am.

More updates next week. Wear your mask. Up The Arsenal!

Hello Singapore Gooners,

Looks like the third time was the charm for the team under Project Restart. We got our 1st win in 3 games this morning. That should put a smile on our faces for this weekend at least. Arteta will still need more time to tweak his gameplan but the players really need to step up too, there’s no denying that.

Let’s savour the 3 points as we slowly climb up the table. We have 7 more games and only 6 points away from 5th spot. And then we can say farewell to this “abnormal” 2019-20 season.

In other news, some of our members were featured on TV during the Brighton game. They responded to my email last week and their reward was their celebration shown to a worldwide audience on TV when Pepe scored (ignore the final result!). If you haven’t seen that snapshot, view it here: https://www.facebook.com/ArsenalSingapore/posts/3049690408401994

Arsenal Singapore online video gathering

Last Saturday, some of our other members had another unique experience when they “watched” the Brighton game together online via Zoom. Maybe you can recognise those familiar faces in the picture attached.

We even had prizes to give away for our contest. And our ONE and only winner was Umarani Jayapal. She correctly predicted 0-0 half time score and 3 total goals. She has won herself 2 prizes!!

This Sunday, we play Sheffield United for our Quarter-final FA Cup match at 8pm. To create a unique experience, Arsenal Singapore will host a private Zoom event gathering for our members. In case you miss the atmosphere of watching at the pub, now watch the game in the comfort of your own home and also watching with your fellow Singapore Gooners. Entry is FREE and we can only allow 100 members to log in.
(FYI, we will not telecast the game on Zoom due to TV rights).

Lance Lim, who is our club’s social media king, will be your Zoom host! You can also submit your half-time score, full-time score and total goals (based on full-time) in the “CHAT” box before the game starts.

The first 3 correct entries for each category will win an EXCLUSIVE prize from us. Please indicate your name and membership number together with your predictions on matchday.

This event is purely for our members only. You can log in from 7.30pm onwards. COYG!!!

That’s all for this week, folks! Wear your mask. Up The Arsenal!

Hello Singapore Gooners,

Any sleepy heads out there today after waking up to catch our “final warm-up game” before EPL restarts this Saturday? It was a warm-up match wasn’t it? LOL

I’m sure Arteta and “Agent Luiz” were just ironing out the kinks before another away game this Saturday. Not sure about you but I thought Leno and Mustafi looked rock solid! The rest, not so much!! 😦

For the remainder of this season, Arsenal Singapore and AFC are thinking of new ways to engage our members and fans worldwide. You may have read, or seen, video walls mounted at football stadiums and fans appear on those screens via Zoom platform mostly. So we have something exciting lined up on a trial basis.

1. Arsenal Singapore online video gathering

This Saturday, we play Brighton at 10pm. FYI, we will not telecast the game on Zoom due to TV rights.

Lance Lim, who is our club’s social media king, will be your Zoom host! You can also submit your half-time score, full-time score and total goals in the “CHAT” box before the game starts.

The first 3 correct entries in each category will win an EXCLUSIVE prize from us. Please indicate your name and membership number together with your predictions on matchday.

This event is purely for our members only and another membership benefit. You can log in from 9.30pm onwards. COYG!!!

2. Premier League online video gathering

The English Premier League is also organizing something similar. The production company would like Arsenal fans worldwide to be part of their video wall during an Arsenal match (they didn’t say which game yet). If you are interested to be part of this, email me your details by Friday 19 June, 12pm SG time. This is only open to the first 10 members. Email to dhanesh@arsenalsingapore.com
