Hello Singapore Gooners,

Any sleepy heads out there today after waking up to catch our “final warm-up game” before EPL restarts this Saturday? It was a warm-up match wasn’t it? LOL

I’m sure Arteta and “Agent Luiz” were just ironing out the kinks before another away game this Saturday. Not sure about you but I thought Leno and Mustafi looked rock solid! The rest, not so much!! 😦

For the remainder of this season, Arsenal Singapore and AFC are thinking of new ways to engage our members and fans worldwide. You may have read, or seen, video walls mounted at football stadiums and fans appear on those screens via Zoom platform mostly. So we have something exciting lined up on a trial basis.

1. Arsenal Singapore online video gathering

This Saturday, we play Brighton at 10pm. To create a unique experience, Arsenal Singapore will host a private Zoom event gathering for our members. In case you miss the atmosphere of watching at the pub, now watch the game in the comfort of your own home and also watching with your fellow Singapore Gooners. Entry is FREE and we can only allow 100 members to log in. FYI, we will not telecast the game on Zoom due to TV rights.

Lance Lim, who is our club’s social media king, will be your Zoom host! You can also submit your half-time score, full-time score and total goals in the “CHAT” box before the game starts.

The first 3 correct entries in each category will win an EXCLUSIVE prize from us. Please indicate your name and membership number together with your predictions on matchday.

This event is purely for our members only and another membership benefit. You can log in from 9.30pm onwards. COYG!!!

2. Premier League online video gathering

The English Premier League is also organizing something similar. The production company would like Arsenal fans worldwide to be part of their video wall during an Arsenal match (they didn’t say which game yet). If you are interested to be part of this, email me your details by Friday 19 June, 12pm SG time. This is only open to the first 10 members. Email to dhanesh@arsenalsingapore.com

Hello Singapore Gooners,

It’s a “new normal” in Singapore, post circuit breaker. Are you getting used to stepping out of your home and breathing fresh air?

If you’re bored out of your minds, well fret not as EPL will restart in just under 2 weeks if all goes well. You have may seen the pics/videos of the team back in training and their “post-lockdown” hairstyles LOL

Here are the first few Arsenal games (all games in UK time).

Wed 17 June – Man City v Arsenal, 8.15pm

Sat 20 June – Brighton v Arsenal, 3pm

Tue 23 June – Southampton v Arsenal, 6pm

27/28 June – Sheffield United v Arsenal (FA Cup)

Thu 2 July – Arsenal v Norwich, 6pm

Fans can only watch them on TV and stadiums will be empty. Clubs are trying to find new ways to liven the atmosphere at stadiums.

Arsenal is reportedly looking into the possibility of “live remote video” so players can also “see the fans on the stands”. Let’s wait for more info on this and see if our Arsenal Singapore members can join this unique experience. Stay tuned, folks!

Lastly, Eddie Nketiah has a special message for all overseas supporters club. Enjoy this video: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=269855847536823

That’s all for this week, Gooners.

Enjoy your weekend! Stay healthy and safe.

Hello Singapore Gooners,

Anyone experiencing cabin fever yet? I hope you and your families are well, safe and healthy. Latest news from UK is EPL football can only be resumed after 1st June. Let’s see if lives or money is more important to the decision makers, eh?

If you haven’t watched it yet, AFC released 2 new videos. I’ve watched them both and truly loved them.

Thierry Henry: https://www.facebook.com/Arsenal/videos/807903266404050/A

Dennis Bergkamp: https://www.facebook.com/Arsenal/videos/711318509678508/

Two quick updates for you.

1. Children’s Aid Society
As our members know, our adopted charity is Children’s Aid Society. During this challenging COVID-19 pandemic, they are facing a difficult financial year with donations on a significant decline. We hope to appeal to the generosity of our Arsenal Singapore community to donate if you can. The donations would greatly help them to tide through this trying period and signify support for their residents and families.

They are trying to raise $100,000 within the next 4 months. As of today, they have only raised $26K. With a donation of $10 & above, you’ll be entitled to a 250% tax deduction.

2. Closure of Modesto’s Restaurant
Modesto’s Elizabeth has closed down for good after 17 years. And this morning news came in by end June, Modesto’s Orchard outlet will also shut its doors for good after 23 years.

Here is the message from Ashok, owner of Modesto’s.

“If you have enjoyed our food and service through the years, please enjoy our offerings at least one more time for a good cause. Thank you very much”.

He also launched a mini-fundraising campaign, setting aside 40% of takeaway sales proceeds to help former employees who are in between jobs.

Please call 62357808 to place your orders. View the menu at www.modestos.com.sg

Modesto’s Orchard Rendezvous Hotel is located at 1 Tanglin Road #01-09 Singapore 247905. Food pick-up/takeaway is available at this location only.

I know some Gooners have already enjoyed their delicious food in the past 2 weeks. You guys are just awesome and generous!!
Give anything that you can for both causes above, Gooners.

Thank you and please stay safe.
