Hello Singapore Gooners,

I hope you and your families are well, safe and healthy. Try to make the best of this long weekend and watch Arsenal Reloaded online too. No other footy update for this week but I’d like to share 2 other news with you.

1. Closure of Modesto’s – Elizabeth Hotel
Ashok, the owner of Modesto’s, informed me yesterday that he has closed down the restaurant at Eliz. As you know this was our First and Best home for Arsenal Singapore. Home is where the heart is and our hearts were there every weekend from 2004 to 2013.

I’ve posted this on our FB page as well: https://www.facebook.com/ArsenalSingapore/posts/2919524708085232
Please share your Arsenal memories there too. I’m sure everyone has fond memories of our glorious home.

Here is the message from Ashok.

“Thank you for support and patronage for all these years. We have taken the difficult decision to close down our branch at the Elizabeth Hotel with immediate effect, and consequently had to retrench many of our staff.

Instead of the discount that we are always extending to our friends and regulars, we are going to put a part of your purchases into a fund to help our retrenched staff, especially for the foreign workers who face very poor job prospects either here or when they go home.

A full 40% of your net spend will be set aside to a fund to help our ex-staff who are between jobs.

NB – if you have enjoyed our food and service through the years, we will admit that we may not be around much longer. So please enjoy our offerings at least one more time in May for a good cause. Thank you very much”.

Please call us at 62357808 to place your orders. Their menu can be found at www.modestos.com.sg

Modesto’s Orchard Rendezvous Hotel is located at 1 Tanglin Road #01-09 Singapore 247905. Food pick-up is available at this location only. Please support the retrenched staff and order for pickup at their Orchard location.

2. Children’s Aid Society
As our members know, our adopted charity is Children’s Aid Society. During this challenging COVID-19 pandemic, they are facing a difficult financial year with donations on a significant decline. We hope to appeal to the generosity of our Arsenal Singapore community to donate if you can. The donations would greatly help them to tide through this trying period and signify support for their residents and families.

They are trying to raise $100,000 within the next 4 months. With a donation of $10 & above, you’ll be entitled to a 250% tax deduction. Click on this link to help: https://bit.ly/cassolidarity

Give anything that you can for the two causes above, Gooners. Thank you and stay safe.

Hello Singapore Gooners,

How’s everyone doing during this unusual period in Singapore? Can you still even remember those Arsenal songs we used to sing? Hang in there, Gooners.

Here’s your latest update for this week.

1. Our club President, Ian Lim, unfortunately has decided to step down and leave the Exco for personal reasons. We thank him for his contributions in the past 8 months. I will take over as interim President with immediate effect. During the next AGM in August, the club will vote for a new President.

2. With a donation of $10 & above, you’ll be entitled to a 250% tax deduction.

As this cause is very dear to my heart, I have already made my personal donation. Click on this link to help: https://bit.ly/cassolidarity

3. Finally, a huge thanks to the winner of our Jack Wilshere charity auction – Yisheng Ang. He donated $335 in total to Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore). You’re a Top Gooner, Yisheng! That’s him in the pic attached.

Please stay safe and wear your mask, Gooners! Talk to you again soon.

Hello Singapore Gooners,

The circuit breaker has been declared. Again, Arsenal Singapore would like to take this opportunity to thank all the frontline workers for their dedication in these trying times and to wish all our members the best of health.

1. Arsenal Singapore Membership Renewals 2020/2021 Season

It is that time of the year again where we begin our membership renewals.

In view of the recent COVID-19 situation and the frozen season, we have decided to hold back on reopening membership renewals until we get more clarity on both the current and new season.

We seek your kind understanding on this and hope to have your support once renewals start again.

2. Arsenal Singapore Corona Virus Tips

1: Stay home and choose a past season to focus on (e.g. The Invincibles of 2003/2004)

2: Rewatch matches of the season from start to finish

3: Feel nostalgic and focus on the positives

4: Energise yourself to work and take care of yourself and your families at home

5: Practice good hygiene, wash your hands frequently with soap and water
