Our member Joel Ho shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Leeds United

A childhood dream came true.

The last time I visited Emirates Stadium was more than a decade ago when I was in primary school. There weren’t any matches scheduled the weekend I was there with my family, so I told myself that the next time I visit London I’d wish to catch a game live! Fast forward 13 years, thanks to Dhanesh and the Arsenal Singapore team, my childhood dream was made possible.

My dad and I arrived 3 hours prior to kickoff to experience the pre-match build up. We alighted at Arsenal Tube Station and walked towards the stadium where we were greeted by many food tents and stands selling unique merchandise. We then visited the match day store as well as the Armoury to purchase new gears.

Leading up to kick off, the TV screens in the stadium were showing the Man City-Liverpool game as the fans stood and watched anxiously praying for a result in our favour.

The atmosphere was electrifying right from the get go, the fans were chanting and cheering the team on trying to break down a stubborn Leeds defence.

Only after 35 mins, Gabriel Jesus’s trickery won us a penalty and neatly converted it to open the scoring. In the second half, we dominated and scored a hat-tick of goals and eventually secured a 4-1 win.

The crowd was in total jubilation when the referee called for full time which meant we sit at the summit of the table 8 points clear.

Again, it was a wonderful experience made by possible by Dhanesh and the Arsenal Singapore team. My dad and I truly enjoyed ourselves and we can’t wait to be back at the Emirates cheering the Red army on again.
