Arsenal Singapore Newsletter, 8 September 2022

Good day Gooners!

Arsenal 2-1 Aston Villa
Manure 3-1 Arsenal

The last week saw us maintain our position at the top of the table but not without a sour taste in the mouth. A solid win against Villa with both Gabis getting at the scoresheet followed up by a vomit-inducing loss at Old Trafford. I guess the most frustrating thing about the loss was the fact that for most parts of the game, we played well and could see the game plan that the boys were executing. However, these games are won and loss on such fine margins, a couple of defensive lapses and manure took their chances and punished us.

This must be a good learning point for the boys and Mikel to be always switched on defensively on these occasions, we can’t count on refs especially at OT, being clinical in the final 3rd and going gung-ho against quality opposition is a dangerous tactic. Not to mention the no. of Utd shirts that were out and about throughout the week, they truly are out of the sewers.

Shout out to the close to 200 pax who filled #WTF last Sunday night. A bar filled with Arsenal kits truly was a sight we’ve missed dearly and together, I think we can still be very proud of the way we played on Sunday and we are still top of the league with plenty to look forward to. Now on to the next couple of games.

Next 2 games:
9 Sept 2022 12.30am: FC Zurich vs Arsenal NOT screened @ #WTF
11 Sept 2022 9.00pm: Arsenal vs Everton LIVE @ #WTF

This week sees us open our Europa League campaign against FC Zurich, Friday morning 1230am. This game will NOT be screened at our home ground at #WTF. The combination of Europa league and premier league games have always been tricky, let’s hope that the squad is able handle the coming games well.

The game on Sunday will be screened LIVE @ #WTF hearing that Thomas Partey could be in the squad for this game and this is such welcomed news as I feel his absence was sorely missed the last couple of games. Everton sit 16th but are no pushovers they put in a great showing against Liverpool last week and would be up for a fight at the emirates this weekend. Here’s to a solid 3-0 win to the Arsenal this Sunday with Saka getting in amongst the goals again! As usual at #WTF, there will be a cover charge of $15 on entry, which comes with a drink. There is also a 20% discount on food and beverages, and 15% discount on non-house pour alcohol. See you guys this weekend!

UPDATE: This weekend’s Premier League games have been postponed due to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As such there will be NO screening at #WTF this Sunday.
