Our member Sharin shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Leeds United
We are top of the league!
An opportunity arise to visit the Arsenal with 12 other like-minded folks, many of them on their 1st trips to visit the Emirates. For me personally, it was my 10th year anniversary as I was lucky enough to visit in 2013. The group reached Emirates early and immediately got into the spirit with a quick Armory visit, buying match programmes, figuring out which game day scarf to purchase and posing for pictures while finding our seats. The changes made around the stadium was massively different. The new 8 external canvas was a sight to behold while the 3 new statues were exactly what I envisioned. The changes made in the dressing room really drove the 4 non-negotiable: Discipline, Leadership, Dominate, Compete.
The atmosphere before the game was electric, even though Liverpool was unable to do us any favours. We located our seats high up in the stands and the view was amazing still. Even though we were situated close to the Leeds section, the whole stadium was successful in drowning their chants as the Arsenal steam-rolled them to record a 4-1 victory. Watching Jesus scoring his first goals after his injury, Ben White of all people to pop up at the far post and Xhaka continuing his amazing goal scoring form was really a sight to behold. The stadium cheering as one, the local fans behind us hitting the metal railings to lead us in cheering for our team, it was a perfect game to travel over 14 hours for.
Thanks to Arsenal Singapore and 1896 travel for arranging this trip and hopefully, more trips can be arranged next season!
