Our member Shamir Nair shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Fulham in August 2023.

Thank you to Arsenal Singapore and Dhanesh for helping me with getting a ticket to Arsenal vs Fulham on 26 August 2023. This was my first time watching a competitive game for The Arsenal. On matchday, I decided to take a route to Emirates Stadium that required a little bit more walking to take in the sights and sounds of North London. Being able to see the stadium in the distance during my walk was mesmeric.

The game itself was a frenetic affair. Something that one can expect in a Premier League encounter at Emirates Stadium given some of the results in the preceding months. In the second half, we started strong. We eventually managed to turn the tide and lead 2-1 after going a goal behind in the first minute. The atmosphere at this point was deafening.

Unfortunately, we conceded via a corner late on and the game ended 2-2. A heartbreaking moment indeed. Although we did not come away with all 3 points, it was a memorable day out. From singing ‘’North London Forever” before kick-off to watching Declan Rice majestically gallop about the carpet with relative ease like a gazelle in the Savanna, this was a fun time.

This was my first visit to Emirates Stadium and I hope to be back here again soon. This is massive season for us with the return of Champions League football. Hopefully, we will be able to challenge for the league once again.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
