Our member Lam Kean Keong shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in December 2023.
A big thanks to Dhanesh and team for getting tickets to the game!
It certainly was a lifelong dream come true for me, a virgin pilgrim to the Emirates. And I know this will not be my last.
I leisurely arrived 2 hours before the 3pm kickoff, hoping to catch in the sights, sounds, and smells at the home The Arsenal on a freezing Saturday.
It seems 2 hours is barely enough, not with so many stadium facades, statues, and merchandising points!
The game began promisingly. We danced our way through the Wolves defence at will. Our captain Odegaard opened the scoring and our star boy Saka added to the scoreline with barely 15 minutes on the clock. And it was fortuitous we were seated at the Clock End where these actions took place. The crowd was anticipating another blitzing of the opponent, just like how we did Lens a few nights ago.
We were just cruising. We’re opening Wolves up at will. Somehow we just couldn’t find another goal, albeit the post denied us twice later, and we squandering several golden opportunities. Alas it ended 2-1, with most of us wondering why we were made to sweat on this freezing cold day, when Wolves’ Cunha powerful finish created late tension that nobody saw coming.
Nonetheless champions win in any and every fashion!
We’ll take the 3 points and march towards the title.
COYG!
