Our member Noor Armand shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Liverpool in October 2024.

As an Arsenal fan at the Emirates for the 2-2 draw against Liverpool on October 28, the emotions were a rollercoaster. Arsenal started brightly, showing dominance, especially in midfield, and took the lead with a goal that showed our intent. Declan Rice’s perfect ball into the box found Mikel Merino, who headed in a confident opener that had the Emirates buzzing. Yet Liverpool found an equalizer from a corner that felt like a defensive lapse, with Virgil van Dijk heading in after Kai Havertz and Thomas Partey lost their marks in the box

Just before halftime, Arsenal reclaimed the lead, and it looked like we were set to capitalise on our momentum. We were pressing hard, winning key battles, and the atmosphere was fantastic. But it was frustrating to see missed calls and non-calls, including a possible penalty when Konate went in hard on Martinelli. The sense of injustice was palpable, especially with Liverpool players like Luis Diaz escaping without bookings despite numerous fouls

The second half saw Liverpool claw their way back, capitalising on Arsenal’s defensive gaps. Late in the game, Mo Salah’s equalizer came off a quick counter that began with a misplaced pass. Arsenal responded, and when Gabriel Jesus tucked the ball into the net, we thought we had it won. But a controversial call from the referee overturned the goal for a supposed foul, adding to the growing feeling that decisions weren’t going our way.

Overall, it was a really amazing and mesmerising experience for all of us, and we appreciate the support and tickets provided by Arsenal Singapore! We hope to come back to the Emirates soon! #COYG!
