After the goalless league draw against Merseyside blues, the Arsenal knew they had to pick up speed in the cup draw against the Eagles. Christmas Jesus stepped up and delivered a splendid long-awaited first hat-trick for the Gunners. Similar delivery and styles, his goal feast was fed by assists from Odegaard and Saka after the former was subbed in at half-time. A last minute consolation goal from former striker Nketiah kept North London on their toes till the final whistle. The team and supporters now can carry this confidence to the away “second leg” days later in the league game.
