Our member Kelvin Ong shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Tottenham Hotspurs in January 2025.

The day finally arrived for my 1st North London Derby. Nothing is going to dampen the positivity of an Arsenal win despite the gloomy London weather. Red and white lined the streets as Gooners marched towards The Emirates immersed in songs and cheers.

I was overwhelmed with emotions as I made my way up to my seat and the first look at the field where many past and current Arsenal players had played on was amazing. While I waited patiently for the kick off, I went around taking many photos and chatting with fellow Gooners coming from all over the world. The emotions started to weld up again as we sang North London Forever with our scarfs held up high to motivate the players and reminding our rivals that North London will always be red!

The game was almost one sided with Arsenal dominating possession. To my surprise, we were down 1 goal mid-way in the first half but it was quickly overturned with an own goal and a brilliant pin-point strike by Trossard. In the second half, there was not really a threat and the game ended 2-1. My first live NLD win and I believe I brought luck from Singapore! Overall, it was a good match and we moved closer up the table.

I would like to thank Arsenal Singapore for allocating the ticket and my family for supporting my journey to watch Arsenal in action. A bucket list item off my list as I continue to chase my football adventures.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
