Our member Joel Ho shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Dinamo Zagreb in January 2025.
From the moment I stepped off the Tube at Finsbury Park, the buzz of a Champions League night was unmistakable. Fans were everywhere—a sea of red and white scarves, voices humming with excitement. Thanks to Arsenal Singapore, I had the incredible opportunity to witness the Gunners live on an unforgettable European night. I can’t thank them enough for making this dream a reality!
Inside the Emirates, it was even better than I imagined. The pitch looked pristine under the lights, almost glowing, as the stands filled with passionate supporters. I wandered toward the touchline and wondered who I should spot but ex-Arsenal striker Eduardo! He was there doing interviews along the sideline. We exchanged a quick word, and he even smiled for a photo! I found my seat, heart racing as the players emerged from the tunnel. Hearing the Champions League anthem live for the first time–it’s a moment I’ll carry with me for a very long time.
The Gunners hit the front early on thanks to Declan Rice and were in complete control for the remainder of the night at the N5. Havertz’s 14th goal of the season extended our lead just before the hour-mark before our captain scored his first goal from open play since April to wrap up a comfortable win.
Nights like this remind me why I love this club. The Emirates gets its fair share of criticism, but tonight, it felt like home–loud, proud, and full of heart. I can’t wait for the next one. Up the Arsenal!
