Our member Sheryl Tham shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Chelsea in March 2025.

They say the third time’s the charm, and my third visit to the Emirates Stadium was indeed magical. This time was a little different from the previous two though – as it was my first visit as a member of the Singapore Gooners club and a personal pre-birthday treat for myself.

The journey from Singapore was worth every mile when I arrived at Holloway Road to see the iconic red and white facade of the Emirates. There’s something special about seeing the stadium each time, but this visit felt more meaningful than ever.

Inside the Emirates, the perfectly manicured pitch and the roar when our players emerged for warm-ups sent further shivers down my spine on what was already a very chilly afternoon. The pre-match ritual of “North London Forever” echoing around the ground was an unforgettable moment with over 50,000 voices united in passion for our club.

As the match began, the intensity reached unprecedented heights. Every tackle, every pass, every shot on goal triggered waves of emotion throughout the stands. The collective gasp when Chelsea had a chance, followed by the thunderous celebration when we countered and Merino scored, created a rollercoaster of emotions impossible to experience through a screen. It also served as further confirmation that North London is truly a vibrant city!

To my fellow Singapore Gooners who haven’t yet made the pilgrimage – you’ve got to experience it firsthand. And for those who have been before, go again! Each visit brings about new and different experiences. Watching our beloved Gunners at the Emirates ismore than just witnessing a football match; it’s a chance to connect with the essence of our club.

Once a Gooner, always a Gooner – no matter how far from N5 we may be!

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
