Our member Joel Ho shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Fulham in April 2025.
Arsenal 2-1 Fulham – Starboy Returns in a Midweek Derby Win
This midweek London derby had all the ingredients of a classic—rivalry, returns, and the chase for vital points. We welcomed Fulham to the Emirates, and more importantly, we witnessed the long-awaited return of our starboy, Bukayo Saka, after a lengthy spell out injured. Huge thanks to Arsenal Singapore for giving me the opportunity to be there in person to witness his comeback—and what a return it was!
The match carried an extra emotional layer, with our very own Hale End graduate, Emile Smith Rowe, lining up for Fulham. It felt strange seeing him in different colours, but once the whistle blew, it was business as usual—hoping to keep him quiet and get the job done. Arsenal started the game brightly but were dealt an early blow when Gabriel pulled up with a hamstring injury. The team continued to keep the pressure on, and it eventually paid off when Mikel Merino opened the scoring with a smart finish.
The Emirates came alive in the second half as Saka came off the bench and wasted no time—scoring only seven minutes after being introduced. You couldn’t have scripted a better comeback. Fulham managed to pull one back through a scuffed effort from Rodrigo Muniz, but it was too little, too late. The three points stayed at the Emirates, and it was another convincing performance in our campaign!
Great to be back under the lights at the Emirates for another London derby win and even better to witness Saka’s return goal live. On to the next one—come on you Gunners!
