Happy Monday Gooners! Exciting news to share today.
Gunners Maintain Perfect Record in Bruges
What a night in Belgium last midweek! Arsenal continued their perfect start to the Champions League campaign, securing a brilliant 3-0 victory against Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium. Arsenal, despite dealing with a string of injuries and resting key players like Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, put in a commanding performance. The result was a perfect bounce-back after their recent league defeat.
Winger Noni Madueke stole the show, netting a stunning brace and Gabriel Martinelli got on the scoresheet with a superb curling third goal. The strike made him the first Arsenal player ever to score in five successive Champions League games! The night was also marked by the emotional, long-awaited return of striker Gabriel Jesus, who came off the bench after 11 months out with injury. So good to see him on the field.
The win makes it six straight victories in the competition, keeping the Gunners top of the league phase table and on the cusp of automatic qualification for the last 16. Arsenal now stands with an impeccable record and are in prime position to seal a coveted top eight finish, which would see them bypass the play-off round.
2 own goal secures 3-point for Arsenal against Wolves
Arsenal maintained their push at the top of the Premier League table with a highly dramatic 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. However, the performance was far from straightforward against a determined Wolves side sitting at the bottom of the league.
For much of the match, Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to break down a resolute Wolves defense, failing to register a shot on target until the 68th minute. The deadlock was finally broken in fortuitous fashion in the 70th minute when a Bukayo Saka corner deflected off the post and in off Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone for an own goal.
The relief around the Emirates was palpable, but the drama was far from over. Substitute Tolu Arokodare appeared to have salvaged a monumental point for Wolves with a 90th-minute equaliser, guiding a cross past David Raya. Yet, Arsenal had one final twist left in the tale. Deep into stoppage time (90+4), a driven cross from Saka led to another calamitous moment for the visitors, as Yerson Mosquera diverted the ball past his own keeper to hand the Gunners a crucial 2-1 win. Another late drama in the premiership but this time, 3-point to the Arsenal.
One match this week with yet another late kick-off!
Everton v Arsenal – No live screening
Date: Sunday, 21st December 2025, Kick-off: 4.00 AM
No live screening
The festive football schedule marches on, and Arsenal must now quickly refocus for a tricky away fixture. The Gunners travel to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on Everton in a Premier League clash.
Everton, who are also fighting hard in the lower half of the table, will be eager to make their home advantage count. Arsenal will need a sharper, more controlled performance than they displayed against Wolves to secure another victory and head into the Christmas period on a high. With the title race heating up with Manchester City and Aston Villa chasing, every point is vital, and a strong showing on Merseyside is essential for the league leaders.
