Our member Yap Heong Teck shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Brentford in December 2025.

The roar that greeted us as we emerged into the Emirates Stadium bowl was nothing short of electrifying. On December 3rd, what began as a simple trip to a football match transformed into a core memory for our family: my wife, myself, and our awestruck 11-year-old daughter, experiencing Arsenal versus Brentford live for the very first time.

For our daughter, a lifelong Gooner who had only ever watched from the sofa, this was pure magic. The vibrant sea of red and white, the thunderous chorus of “North London Forever,” and the palpable tension before kick-off were a sensory overload in the best possible way. Seeing her face, alight with wonder as the players took the pitch, was a moment we will forever treasure. This was her initiation into the true, beating heart of Arsenal.

The atmosphere was a continuous, exhilarating wave. From the collective groans at near-misses to the explosive eruption that greeted Mikel Merino’s headed goal, we were swept along in a current of shared passion. Celebrating with strangers who felt like family, we felt completely immersed. When Saka sealed the 2-0 victory in the 2nd half, the stadium shook with relief and joy, and our hugs were filled with pure elation.

This perfect day was made possible by the incredible generosity of Arsenal Singapore. To them, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks. Their provision of the tickets gifted us more than just seats at a game; they gave us an unforgettable chapter in our family story. The shared songs, the nervous tension, and the triumphant celebrations have forged a bond with the club that goes far beyond the screen. It was a profound lesson in community and passion for our daughter, and a beautiful reminder for my wife and I of the joy found in sharing what you love. For that, we are eternally grateful. Come on you Gunners!

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
