Good morning Gooners!
A Masterclass in Milan: Inter 1-3 Arsenal
Arsenal secured a historic victory in the Champions League last Wednesday, dismantling Inter Milan with clinical precision. The Gunners maintained their 100% record in the competition.
Gabriel Jesus silenced the doubters with a brilliant brace. He opened the scoring just 10 minutes in and added a second before the break, proving why he is still a vital cog in Arteta’s European machine. Viktor Gyökeres came off the bench to put the final nail in the coffin in the 83rd minute, rifling a shot into the top corner to ensure the three points travelled back to London.
This win makes it seven wins from seven in the Champions League league phase, guaranteeing us a top-two finish and a direct ticket to the Round of 16.
North London Stunned: Arsenal 2 – 3 Man United
The Premier League title race was blown wide open this morning as Manchester United secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. In a match defined by high-octane drama and individual brilliance, Michael Carrick’s resurgent side handed the Gunners their first home defeat of the season, cutting their lead at the top of the table to just four points.
Arsenal began looking every bit the champions-elect. Their relentless early pressure finally told in the 29th minute when a low cross intended for Jurrien Timber was diverted into the net by Lisandro Martínez for an own goal. The Emirates was rocking, and for a moment, it seemed like the league leaders would cruise to another comfortable home win. However, the momentum shifted just eight minutes later following a rare lapse in concentration from the Arsenal backline. A misplaced pass from Martin Zubimendi was pounced upon by Bryan Mbeumo, and slotted home the equaliser.
Five minutes after the restart, Patrick Dorgu picked up the ball on the edge of the area and unleashed a ferocious strike to take the lead. Mikel Arteta responded with a bold quadruple substitution, and it paid dividends. In the 84th minute, a chaotic goalmouth scramble following a Bukayo Saka corner saw Mikel Merino prod the ball over the line to draw Arsenal level. The stadium erupted as fans sensed a late winning comeback typical of this Arsenal side.
But the joy was short-lived. Barely three minutes after the equalizer, Manchester United struck the final blow. Matheus Cunha, coming off the bench to change the game, picked up the ball 25 yards out and curled an effort into the bottom corner.
Top of the table with a 4-point advantage is very slim. We go again this week!
Arsenal vs FC Kairat (Champion League) – No live screening
Date: Thursday, 29th January 2026, Kick-off: 4.00 AM
No live screening
Next up, we return to the Emirates for our final Champions League, league phase fixture against Kazakhstan’s FC Kairat.
On paper, this is a David vs. Goliath clash. Kairat are currently at the bottom of the table, while Arsenal sits comfortably at the summit. Expect Arteta to perhaps rotate the squad, giving valuable minutes to the ‘fresh’ players, as we look to finish the group stage with a perfect “eight for eight” record.
Leeds United vs Arsenal (Premier League) – Live Screening
Date: Saturday, 31st January 2026, Kick-off: 11.00 PM
Live screening at BQ Bar
To close out the month, the Gunners travel to Elland Road to face a resilient Leeds United side. Leeds have been tough to beat at home this season, but our recent record against the Whites is formidable. With the Premier League title race heating up, there is no room for a slip-up. We’ll need the same defensive solidity shown by Saliba and Gabriel to handle the Elland Road atmosphere.
