Our member Shamir Nair shares his visit to The Arsenal to watch the team take on Brighton in December 2025 and Liverpool in January 2026.
On my 3rd visit to the Emirates, I was there with high hopes that I could break a long-standing curse. My previous 2 visits ended in draws. I have not seen my beloved team win a game at the carpet. Well, that all changed when Brighton came to visit us. We started well and scored in the first 15 mins with a long-range strike from our Captain, Martin Odegaard. The lead was doubled with an own goal early in the 2nd half. I was relieved but Brighton struck back to make it 2-1 shortly after. The minutes after were a little nervy but we pulled through and claimed 3 points. Felt good as I was there when we drew 1-1 Brighton the previous season where Declan Rice was harshly dismissed. Curse broken.
After a couple of weeks, in the new year, I was glad to be back for a massive clash with the reigning champions, Liverpool. We were on a good run and this was our first home game of the year. Despite that, the game was a cagey affair with both teams playing cautiously. Inevitably, the game ended in a 0-0 draw. 2 points dropped in the title race but we move. This game was a little extra special as my father and sister, who are Liverpool fans, were at the carpet to catch the game. Shame that I didn’t get bragging rights to end the night.
Thank you to Arsenal SG and Dhanesh especially for their work to help Gooners like myself experience matchdays for the club we love.
