Greetings Gooners!!

Last week was great isn’t it! Revenge was sweet when Arsenal finally overcame Southampton to win 1-3 after drawing and losing against them. It was so good to see the look on Walcott when he was substituted during the match. When Southampton scored first, I thought it would be a repeat of the FA Cup match. But Arsenal played some splendid football and scored three against them, with a few key players not in the line-up.

On Sunday, Arsenal played against Man United, who was reeling from a loss against Sheffield United previously. It was a hard fought, goalless match and Arsenal truly deserved the draw. Did you see Leno make the super-duper airborne, one-hand save from a strike by Fred that caused Superman to tear a bit?

It has been alright so far for Arsenal. The January transfer window saw Ozil, Kolasinac and Mustafi left the club permanently while AMN and Willock went for season-long loan with West Brom and Newcastle respectively. The club brought in Mathew Ryan and Martin Odegaard. Let’s see how these changes pan out for Arsenal!

Arsenal travels to the Molineux this Wednesday, 3 February 2021 at 2 am to play against Wolves and then to Villa Park on Saturday, 6 February 2021 for an early kick-off at 8.30 pm. COYG!!

Arsenal Singapore Newsletter, 25 January 2021

Greetings Gooners!!

I was devastated last Saturday, and I am sure most of you felt the same way!

Arsenal played well last Tuesday against Newcastle, winning 3-nil at home. We had 20 shots at goal with 6 on targets. It was a well-rounded game, where the team not only defended well, but attacked attractively.

While the previous excellent performances and results should have influenced Arsenal to strive in the FA Cup fourth round match against Southampton, apparently the players did not receive the memo. I would question Arteta as well. I understand the need for players to be rotated. But for me, a win against the Saints in the FA cup is more crucial than a win in the Premiership. The line-up for that match just did not work for me. We definitely need a miracle to be in the top 6 but by challenging for the FA Cup, the Club could have another alternative to pursue the European Cups, if ever this season ends badly.

Alas, the team conceded a scrappy goal to exit the fourth round. Only 2 matches for Arsenal in the FA Cup journey. If only….. yeah, it’s not easy to comprehend #gutted Arsenal is left with Europa League and Premiership for the remaining season. Let’s hope we make the best of what’s left.

Arsenal returns to St. Mary’s this Wednesday, 27 January 2021 at 4.15 am for a “rematch” and then hosts the current leader, Man United, on Sunday, 31 January 2021 at 1.30 am. I hope the team can bounce back from this defeat.

Anyone know what happened to Auba?

By the way, there are still uncollected prizes at Crown Sports. Prize collection has been extended to 31 January 2021.

Till next week!

Arsenal Singapore Newsletter, 18 January 2021

Greetings Gooners!!

How was your week? I hope it pan out well for you. The last match against Palace saw some changes made to the side. Tierney was missing with a calf injury. He was missed very much on the left flank and it was not easy for Ainsley to emulate his performance. Partey was also featured in that game. Given his performance, he still requires more match time to be at optimal level. But overall, the team did well. They huff and puff and eventually earned a draw. At this point, Arsenal is unbeaten in five games, without conceding any goals. That is a good start to 2021.

I did predict during the early start of the season that the current EPL is full of topsy-turvy drama. Man United is now top of the league. We have seen Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Leicester, Southampton at the top. It’ll be a long season ahead, more games to play, more  drama and who knows, if all goes well, we might be at the top four. #fingerscrossed.

Ozil’s saga with the Club has ended with his contract termination. Arsenal now saves £350k a week. We wish him all the best, joining Podolski in the Turkish league. Honestly, I do miss his sublime assists and goals for Arsenal. I do hope the money can be utilised to buy 1-2 players to boost the team.

Another 4 am game on Tuesday, 19 January 2021 against Newcastle at the Emirates. Following that, it is back to defending the FA Cup on Saturday, 23 January 2021 at 8.15 pm. We play either Southampton or Shrewsbury, who will play this coming Wednesday. My mind says the Saints but my heart says we play Shrewsbury. Come on Arsenal!

Another reminder for the winners for our past events to collect your prizes at Crown Sports.
