Hello Singapore Gooners,

May Day, May Day!

Yes that holiday is upon us this weekend but today I’m referring to our obvious spiralling in our form and luck.

How did we go from being top of the league in January to struggling to even stay at our “customary” 4th spot?

I can count on one hand the number of players who have excelled this entire season. That’s easily less than half of the current first XI.

And last Sunday, we were appalling, dreadful and downright depressing. Yes, I’m calling a spade, a spade. It makes you wonder what they actually do in training sessions, doesn’t it?

Bad News: 3 more matches and we may struggle to get max points.

Good News: The new EPL season starts in 3.5 months. Woohoo!

Membership Renewal & New Sign-ups
We will run renewals for the next 3 weeks and it’s your last chance to do it this season. Get your hands on the All-new Arsenal Singapore polo t-shirt. Look out for the Exco team outside Molly only from 11pm to 12 midnight on Sat 30th April.

I mentioned last week that we may have some events lined up in Singapore during pre-season and probably as early as August 2016. These events will be exclusively for Arsenal Singapore members only. If you have not renewed your membership by then, you may not be able to participate. Next season, Arsenal Singapore will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary of being an Official Arsenal Supporters’ Club (since 2007). So it will be an awesome season coming up.

This weekend, The Canaries come over to Emirates. It’s another potential relegation team so you know what to expect… Them parking the bus (Jose style).

Will we be able to unlock their defence? Will Coq return to the first team and partner Elneny? Will Wilshere start for the first time in nearly a year? Let’s find out together.

Arsenal v Norwich City, Sunday 1st May, 12.30am kick-off!

Come on, Arsenal!

Good morning Singapore Gooners,

Have you had your breakfast yet? I’m just sipping my hot cuppa tea preparing this for you.

Well well well, weren’t we all let down (ONCE AGAIN) last Sunday? I wasn’t feeling quite well so I didn’t get to watch the entire match but I think if i did, it would have made me feel a lot, lot worse! Nothing riles me up more than a lack of passion. Passion from people who get paid millions to do their job!

If there’s a way to reach out to the players, here’s what my message would be:

“SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT!”

I don’t think it’s harsh of me to say such words when we’ve been sliding down the table like there’s no tomorrow! Lack of teamwork, grit, passion, mental fortitude – ZERO! 5 more games to go and we seem too comfy in our “customary” 4th position.

We will definitely expect changes in player movement once the season ends!

Membership Renewal & New Sign-ups
Shout out to last season’s members who have yet to collect your Yellow Away scarf and membership cards, please come down on Sunday to collect them. We seek your cooperation on this. We can’t keep them for you forever 🙂

We will continue to run renewals for the next 4 weeks and it’s your last chance to do it this season. Get your hands on the new Arsenal Singapore polo t-shirt. Look out for the Exco team outside Molly only from 7.30pm-8.30pm on Sunday 24th April.

We may have some events lined up in Singapore during pre-season and even in early August 2016. These events will be for Arsenal Singapore members only. If you have not renewed your membership by then, you may not be able to participate. Next season, Arsenal Singapore will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary of being an Official Arsenal Supporters’ Club (since 2007). You know we will have some awesome events lined up. Don’t say I never say ah….So heads up first!

So tomorrow morning, The Arsenal take on W.B.A. at 2.45am. This match will not be shown at Molly. The Baggies are (almost) safe from relegation. But which Arsenal team will turn up? Will Joel Campbell ever play again this season? Will Mertesacker come back to the First XI?

On Sunday, relegation-favourites Fat Sam’s Black Cats is up against The Arsenal. Honestly, I am really worried about this game. They will go all out and make it a physical game for us. We will get bruised in this encounter. Come on down and sing your hearts out. I’ll see you there!

Sunderland v The Arsenal, Sun 24th April, 9pm kick-off!

Dear Singapore Gooners,

Good evening and since it’s almost the end of Thursday, I hope by now you’re feeling much better and have recovered from the ___________ (fill in the blank) performance the team had against West Ham. I think many of you would agree that it so succinctly summed up our unpredictable season.

To go 2-0 up and draw 3-3??? Sigh.

To go 2-0 up and came this close to losing? Sigh again.

I have read a couple of reviews of our performance and none said it better than Arseblog. You can read it here: http://arseblog.com/2016/04/west-ham-3-3-arsenal/

Actually the only 2 bright spots, to me, were:
1. Elneny-Coq partnership is strong and will continue to grow even stronger.
2. Koscielny is Arsenal’s highest scoring defender in EPL history. (ok ok not what you were expecting).

Membership Renewal & New Sign-ups
So far almost 100 Gooners have renewed over past 2 weekends. They were excited to get their hands on our all-new Arsenal Singapore polo t-shirt. It really has a nice embroidered logo patch with white sleeves on a red shirt. Look out for the Exco team outside Molly only from 9.30-10.30pm on Sunday 17th April.

So it’s Crystal Palace that will come over to the Emirates Stadium this Sunday. They are in a relegation battle and so this can only mean one thing…. They will make life hell for us! Unless the Gunners can prove us wrong. Only one way to find out.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace, Sun 17th April, 11pm kick-off!

Featured Members’ Trip to Arsenal

From Jason Ng Jian Hao:

I just returned from my trip to London. Firstly, I would like to thank the supporters’club for making the tickets application process such a fuss-free affair. It was such a wonderful opportunity to finally catch a game at the Emirates after more than 16 years of being a Gooner. The stadium tour was great and first-timers like me should really take a walk down towards the old Highbury stadium (I wish I owned one of those lovely apartments…).

The game itself was decent enough, just that we forgot to put the scoring boots on. Nonetheless, we are still right up there fighting for the title, and the best team will eventually prevail. Looking forward to crossing half the globe to watch my team again in the near future.

Featured Members’ trip to Arsenal

From Chiu Hee Tan:

I appreciate the effort taken to give us the opportunity to experience meeting up with the players. It entailed catching a glimpse of them disembarking from their team bus and strolling in via the players’ entrance. We got to shake hand-with-paw was with Gunnersaurus! And there was a pleasant surprise, the appearance of Thierry Henry! 🙂

Featured Members’ trip to Arsenal

From Ahmad Azzam Shahrudin:

First of all, my family and I would like to thank Arsenal Singapore for giving us the golden opportunity to catch Arsenal Vs Sunderland live at the Emirates Stadium on 5th December 2015.

It was an understatement that I was overjoyed when I walked out of the Gillespie Tube Station. I saw red everywhere, mostly Gooners, fans chanting, roadside stalls selling memorabilia and food. Everything heightened the atmosphere. It felt like a dream since all these years, I saw these only on TV as the pre-match highlights. And I was part of it, and it felt so surreal.

In the stadium, we were lucky because we managed to see Ozil get the award for player of the month! The squads came out of the dugout and the match started soon after, I could identify the players from where we sat. All the boos from the Sunderland fans when we were attacking or missed a chance and their cheers when Koscielny got booked for a foul. And then the “Arsenal” erupted when Ozil fed Campbell an assist and he scored, everyone jumped out of their seats and roared. We were lucky because the attack took place near the corner where we sat. The match went on and finished 3-1 to Arsenal. The crowd was on a high and every Gooner was happy with the result.

I must say that the excitement and experience watching live at the Emirates can never be compared to watching on TV. Ozil was such a joy to watch, he was all over the pitch, free roaming the midfield. He is so hardworking, such that the TV dont do him justice. As a fan of Arsenal since I was little, this was really a dream come true. If i had a chance to  watch it again live, I’ll definitely grab it. On behalf of my family, I would like to again thank Arsenal Singapore and the people that helped us to make this possible.

Good evening Singapore Gooners,

It was a fabulous Saturday night with four awesome goals by the fearless Gunners! Fantastic goals by Iwobi, Alexis, Bellerin and Theo closed the deal. Iwobi (Wan Kenobi) was simply brilliant in only his 2nd start in an EPL match. He scored his 2nd goal in as many games and also clinched his 2nd MOTM award! Holy Gunners! Even King Henry didn’t achieve that accolade!

That Coq-Elneny pivot in midfield is already looking to be a great partnership. (Psssst, have you heard there’s ANOTHER new song for Elneny?) Alexis and Ozil were playing to the right tunes as well. Ooooooospina had a few great saves but was hardly troubled. Defensively we looked solid too with Nacho and Hector running riot. Let’s hope we can build on this week-in, week-out for the next 5 weeks. Remember, 7 more “cup finals” to go.

Membership Renewal & New Sign-ups
It’s that time of the year where we have resumed our membership renewal. Quite a number of members were excited to get their hands on our all-new Arsenal Singapore polo t-shirt. It really has a nice embroidered logo patch with white sleeves on a red shirt. Click here to see how it looks like:

Don’t you want to get your hands on them immediately?

Look out for the Exco team outside Molly strictly between 5.30-7pm on Saturday 9th April.

Onto this Saturday and it’s an away trip to West Ham. Now this will be another test for us as The Hammers are playing extremely well this season and looking to qualify for Europe too. Once again we should have “revenge” on our minds to reverse the defeat back in August. Will we prevail? Will Cech be back? Will Alexis continue scoring? Will Oli G ever shave his beard and get his mojo back? Only one way to find out!

It’s an early kick-off so come down early, renew your membership and grab your dinner at Molly, Sat 9th April, 7.45pm kick-off! I’ll see you there. Sing loud and proud.

“There’s only ONE team in London”! COYG!!!
